Alternate Support Staff Laundry Kitchen/Aide




Bucks County Youth Center








Provides general support by working in kitchen, laundry and maintenance areas of youth center facility. This includes laundry operations; i.e., sort, wash/dry and fold resident & facility laundry items and make simple sewing repairs.  Assist cooks by preparing food, cleaning kitchen areas and stocking food and dry goods.  May also include general maintenance of facility including cleaning, painting etc. Flexibility required. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS, WEEKDAYS, AND HOLIDAYS.  24 hours per week.


  • Requires working in the service wing area receiving deliveries for the facility.
  • Moves incoming products to proper storage locations and rotates stock as necessary.
  • Distributes and rotates all food, non-food, janitorial, medical and haba supplies for the entire facility.
  • Responsible for submitting request for all laundry supplies.
  • Frequent heavy lifting of 50 pounds or seldom 51-100 pounds with assistance of another employee or cart.
  • Maintains complete inventory figures of products stored in the service wing area.
  • Responsible for all vendors/repairmen entering the facility – logging in/out and filing all reports.
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of all storage areas and equipment in the service wing.
  • Maintains records for USDA commodity items.
  • Maintains records for the NSLP.
  • Assists in implementing our Wellness Policy required by the State Dept. of Ed.
  • Maintains records of Food grants through the Dept. of Education.
  • Participates in the orientation and in-service training of food service and service wing personnel.
  • Participates in studies and surveys relating to food and nutrition.
  • Participates in organizing weekly staff meetings and training.
  • Assists in portion control for each meal – makes sure proper amount of food is pulled from stock each day.
  • Obey all safety rules and regulations.
  • Report unusual conditions, questionable items and any incidents to the Deputy Director of Operations and the on duty Supervisor.
  • Assists trainers in set up/break down of all in-house trainings.
  • Work weekends and holidays as required by Supervisor.
  • Serves as backup for Cooks including daily food preparation and kitchen clean up.
  • Responsible for the locking and security of the food service and service wing areas.
  • Ability to implement the SOP provided by the Deputy Director of Operations of all food service and service wing duties.
  • Working in outside gardens, may include planting, picking, and weeding.
  • Must be physically fit to perform all duties over with ability to work for extended periods under hot, humid conditions.
  • Travel in County owned vehicle to obtain building supplies at local stores.
  • Sweep & mop floor including deep cleaning activities two times per year.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • High School Graduate or GED with a valid automobile driver’s license and insurance.
  • Experience working in the food service/service wing fields – Serve Safe Certification preferred.
  • Must be able to work with and adapt to troubled teenagers in a secure facility.
  • Proficient keyboard and computer skills.
  • Maintain proper security in the food service and service wing areas.
  • Must be able to stand/ walk continuously throughout shift.
  • Work schedule will rotate and include weekends and holidays. Starting and finishing times can rotate daily.

The employee is occasionally required to kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds or seldom 51-100 pounds with assistance of another employee or cart. The employee is continuously exposed to wet or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to freezing temperatures when in the freezer (jackets are available).
  • The employee continuously works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places; can be in risk of electrical shock; and is subject to vibrations. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level ranges from moderate to loud.
