POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists Jury Manager in administering the one-day/one trial and all the functions including the daily operation of the jury assembly room.  A combination of work skills involving daily public contact, computer entry reports generation and clerical support under the direct supervision of the Jury Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answers inquiries about the responsibilities and duties of a juror.
  • Assists in the selection of jurors, grand jury and statewide grand jury as directed by the Jury Manager.
  • Performs clerical work consisting of data entry, filing, operates folder/sealer machine, responds to voice mails and responds to jurors e-mails.
  • Prepares and mails summons and forms. Processes returned mail and replies to requests for deferment and excusals.
  • Balances monthly bank statement and processes statistics as directed by the Jury Manager.
  • Performs any other clerical duties as assigned by Jury Manager, Court Administrator or his designee.

Any combination of experience and training that affords the applicant an opportunity to gain the above listed knowledge, skill and ability..

  • Associates Degree in related field preferred, minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • One year court-related experience or any combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to speak in front of large crowds with a confident and professional demeanor.
  • Good customer service skills and ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that is professional with the general public, jurors, coworkers and supervisors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
