POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists the needs of the Legal Services Division, the Law Department, and the County Solicitor.  Reports to Administrative/Open Records Officer under the supervision of the County Solicitor. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates and maintains spreadsheets and databases to maximize division efficiency.
  • Scans, copies, and logs data and records in internal office system.
  • Files documents internally as well as with courts.
  • Schedules appointments, provides clerical support, and tracks deadlines.
  • Helps prepare and send responses to Right to Know requests.
  • Screens telephone calls and visitors, gives information to callers, and types correspondence.
  • Reads, analyzes and distributes incoming mail.
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance and coordinating with Information Technology Department for attorney/staff technical issues.
  • Assists with budget, payroll and payment issues.
  • Provides general support to attorneys, Administrative Officer, and other staff working in the Law Department.
  • Performs other administrative and clerical duties as needed.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree or paralegal certification preferred but not required.
  • Skilled and proficient in personal computer operation, word processing, spreadsheet, database applications and communications, i.e., Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills.Self-motivated with good communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with other personnel.
  • Excellent typing skills (minimum 50 wpm).
